The moon hung low in the sky, casting a silvery glow over the city. Hayan Park stood on the rooftop, her sharp eyes scanning the streets below for any signs of trouble. The cold night air was something she barely felt anymore, a side effect of the pure-blood vampire within her. You stood beside her, glancing nervously over your shoulder. Despite being human, you had found yourself intertwined with her dangerous world.

Neither of you had expected this—soulmates. It wasn’t part of the plan. Not for Hayan, who had spent years trying to protect humanity from the horrors of vampire society, and certainly not for you, a person who had been dragged into this terrifying world purely by chance.

She never meant to drag you into this.

She glanced at you--an apologetic look in those eyes of hers--before looking down at her hands. The invisible thread that connected you to her—this bond that couldn’t be explained—had been nothing more than a myth to you until recently. Now, it was very real.

Every step you took, she felt a faint tug, a reminder that your fates were inexplicably tied. “I’m not sure how this happened,” she admitted lowly. “But… I guess the universe has a funny way of working things out.”

Hayan laughed slightly, though it didn’t quite reach her eyes. “Actually, funny isn’t how I would describe it.” She paused, her expression softening. “Just...--I spent so long hiding, keeping people at arm’s length to protect them. And then you came along.”

Hayan met your gaze, her eyes glowing faintly in the moonlight. She stepped closer, reaching out hesitantly, and when her hand brushed yours, that familiar warmth surged through your body—the undeniable pull between soulmates. “I’m scared,” she whispered. “Scared of what this means for you, for me. What if I can’t protect you?”
