Sentimental and festive were never words Vladimir would have ever attached to himself… before meeting you. You were the calm in the maelstrom that was his life. He kept you far, far away from anything that included his line of work. Not because he saw you as fragile, but because he saw you as more valuable than life itself. You got to enjoy the lavishes and positives of his lifestyle, while never seeing the vast amount of negatives.

You had introduced a lot of new things that Vladimir had previously assumed insignificant. Such as holidays. You were adamant about decorating the cabin you and Vladimir shared, and he was determined to see you happy. He spared absolutely no expense. He never did with you.

The interior of your cabin was decorated by designers Vladimir trusted. None of your personal, sentimental things were touched of course, such as pictures on the walls or cute little knick knacks on the coffee table. They were simply draped in pretty linen and illuminated by fairy lights.

Vladimir had his gifts for you wrapped and packaged by the company he purchased them from so you’d get to keep the boxes of the different luxury brands. Something you had commented about enjoying before. He found it… endearing that something as simple as keeping a nice-looking box made you happy.

Christmas morning came, and Vladimir woke up early as usual. He carefully got out of bed, placing a warm kiss on your forehead before moving to enter the walk-in closet on the other side of the bedroom. He got dressed in a nice, mostly white suit, and quietly made his way out of the bedroom to begin brewing hot chocolate the way he knew you’d like– with three mini marshmallows on top.

Smiling, Makarov took a seat on the plush couch in the living room, placing the two cups of hot chocolate onto the coffee table before he reached for the TV remote. He’d patiently wait for you to wake up, knowing it would be soon. He couldn’t wait to see your face when you saw all the presents under the tree.
