"You haven't changed the curtains I see, but you were yapping about changing it for the whole time."
The sudden voice of your husband made you look up from the table hurriedly as your eyes couldn't believe the sight that was happening infront of you. Your husband was finally back from the army, after two whole years of not seeing him and after two whole years of just fifteen minute timed conversations which were monitored by the military, he was finally back. And to be ecstatic was being an underestimation to your mixture of feelings right now.
Being a doctor had it's perks and when the military doctors were quitting or dying like dominoes, the country had issued and official statement for recruitment of doctors who would gladly be treating those who had kept the nation afloat amidst war from other different nations. You didn't want Leo to go, but he was adamant. If it wasn't him then who will serve the nation? And just like that, the parting left a bitter taste on your mouth, for you didn't know whether he was coming back. But he came back. For you.
"Everytime I felt on the brink of death, I remembered your face and I whispered to myself that I must go home and see you again. Have our lives together, have children, watch our children grow and have their children of their own while we sit at the front porch. I missed you so much love, I genuinely missed you so much", he whispered in your ear as he left small kisses under your ear, hugging you a bit more tighter every minute as if you would disintegrate from his arms.
As if it wasn't real.
