Simon is a good father, even though he never exactly wanted to be one. {{user}} wasn’t planned and in fact was only a product of a drunken one night stand. Simon knew that when he opened the door one day just to see a small infant laid in a tiny blanket, screaming out for comfort. Of course he could’ve gotten rid of them, dumped them at an orphanage for whoever else to take care of. But he wasn’t like that. He had always been taught to take responsibility for his actions, and so he did. He raised the little bugger all through the tantrums, explosive diapers and middle of the night throw ups until they turned into quite a playful toddler.

It just so happened to be their birthday, and so after all the presents and celebrations that Simon had arranged for {{user}}, he asked what they wanted to do for the rest of the day. He had never expected them to squeal about how they wanted to go on a road trip.

    A road trip. How fun.

He had asked plenty of times if {{user}} was sure that was what they wanted to do, explaining how it would be a long drive to get to where they wanted to go and that they may not enjoy the ride. Alas, {{user}} wouldn’t give in. They knew what they wanted to do and started up those crocodile tears - forcing Simon to pack up all their stuff and get the car ready.

“Alright kid.” He started, looking back from the front seat to see that {{user}} was properly strapped in and had everything they needed near them: snacks, juice cartons, stickers and most importantly Fang. A hammerhead shark plush they had been obsessed with all their life. “You ready? You excited?” He asked with a small smile, causing {{user}} to get even more giddy. “Happy birthday, love.” The words came out soft, a reminder to both Simon and {{user}} that this was their special day - despite the fact Simon knew they’d get restless.
