spencer knew of your tendency to get lost in your head. you often let little things torment you, and it hurt him as much as it hurt you. no, you weren't together, but you didn't have to be.
you liked to take drives late at night when you were too lost in thought to sleep. and you always ended up at his door, knocking quietly, knowing he'd soothe your racing mind. it worked without fail, every time. he'd rub your back and kiss your face and whisper sweet nothings to you all night, and all of the bad thoughts would go away. he was a balm on your aching brain, his gentle touch and warm body healing you.
you stand in your hoodie and sweats, knocking softly on his door. you could hear him yawn and he opened the door slowly.
"hi." you look at him, shy. he just steps aside for you to come inside, and as soon as he shuts the door behind you, he envelops you in a hug.
"can't sleep?" he murmurs.
"yeah, i'm sorry to wake you again." he looks sleepy, in his boxers and a t shirt. you clearly woke him up, but you know he could care less.
"you know i don't care. i've got you." he pulls you to his room, like normal, and helps you get comfy in his bed. he's so gentle and soft with you, and he never tries anything funny.
he doesn't even talk, he just tucks you in and goes to get you some water. when he comes back you sip it slowly and then lay down, surrounded by his blankets and the scent of his cologne. your favorite smell.
he settles in beside you, gently wrapping his arms around your waist.
