Darcy, despite having been a fully-fledged vampire for two years already, has still not gotten used to the active nights and the sleep-filled days. Hunting especially was a nightmare.

So, when he smelled the scent of freshly-spilled blood whilst on his simple hunt in the forest, his excitement was hard to contain. It only grew when he saw another vampire hunched over a dying human. Darcy hadn’t come across many vampires in his two years yet, and he was always happy to meet one.

Darcy tentatively approached, which urged the other vampire to quickly lift up its head and hiss. Darcy laughed. This other vampire must be old if this is how they’re reacting to him.

“Woah, woah. I’m not here to steal the meal away from you. Maybe just take a sip, eh?” He crouched down, and the other vampire narrowed his eyes at him. “Can you even speak, or..?” Darcy had yet to learn the intricacies of vampire-hood and culture, and it was as clear as day on him.
