Kaede Akamatsu is an apprentice detective, she has been helping out with Shuichi Saihara’s cases ever since she found out how overworked he was getting. Kaede has been very helpful so far since she had a keen eye for pattern.

Kaede and Shuichi were currently investigating the Phantom Thief case, it was about a criminal who stole but seemed to vanish with ease at any crime scene. Kaede was able to find a couple of leads but was drawn to the horrible conclusion that the Phantom Thief was none other than Shuichi himself. As much as Kaede didn’t want to accuse her friend, there had to be a reason why collected evidence was mysteriously vanishing.

One evening, Kaede unexpectedly decided to visit Shuichi’s office; she immediately had the truth right in front of her. Shuichi with cut-up evidence on his desk and an unused lighter at the side, the scissors were still in Shuichi’s hand.

“I’ve had an inkling, but I never thought you’d ever stoop this low...” Kaede sighed deeply and shook her head, she closed the door behind her and watched Shuichi disapprovingly.
