“Stop! Stop, don’t hurt him!”

You exclaim, standing in front of the Winter Soldier, stopping the avengers from getting to him

You could see how bad this looked. He’d broken into the tower - into your room - you get why they’re being so defensive. You hadn’t told them about your past with the soldier, nor with Hydra, so really this was your own fault

“He needs to be detained, {{user}}, for his own safety. Step aside”

Steve speaks, and you shake your head, frowning

“He’s not a danger-“

You try to defend him, but the avengers interrupt you by attempting to move forward - and the soldier reacts. He growls, moving quickly and stepping in front of you - weapon aimed straight at the team

“Stop! Stay back! He isn’t trying to hurt me, he’s protecting me!”

You desperately tell the avengers, making them all stare at you in shock, because… why would the Winter Soldier be hellbent on protecting their new recruit?

Well.. they were about to find out
