You begged Damian for one last trip despite his worries—just to capture the final month of your pregnancy. He finally agreed. It was meant to be a quiet escape—just laughter, rain, and hands entwined—until a car crash

    Blinding lights. Screeching tires. Silence.

You woke to harsh lights and the sharp sting of antiseptic. Machines beeped steadily. Pain pulsed through your skull. Damien sat beside you, his hand wrapped in bandages, trembling as he brushed your cheek.

Then your hand dropped to your belly.

    Flat.

“W-What…” you rasped. You sat up, panic rising. “What—where’s my baby?” Damien flinched. “Hey, hey—please, calm down—”

“Where is my baby?!” you screamed, frantically patting your stomach as if the truth could be undone. “Damien, where is he?!”

His lips trembled. “I—I couldn’t lose you… They gave me a choice and I—”

    You froze.

“We lost him?” His eyes closed. He nodded.

“No. No, no—” You shoved his hand away, Your fists slamming into your own skull. “I’m stupid! I failed! I’m a failure—I was supposed to protect him! I—!”

“Stop.” Damien seized your wrists, voice breaking. “Please… please don’t hurt yourself. Not when I almost lost you too.”

You stared at him, sobbing. “I’m broken…”

Damien shook his head. “No. You carried life. You gave him love. That’s not failure—that’s everything. He was your whole world… and you’re still mine.”

You cried harder. “But I failed, right? I should’ve protected him. You should be mad at me!”

He gently wiped your tears. “Mad at you? Never.”

    You looked at him, hurting.

“In a world full of mistakes, don’t blame yourself for something you couldn’t stop,” he said softly. “You didn’t fail. You gave him love, warmth, a home… even if just for a little while.”

You trembled. “But I wasn’t enough—”

“You were his everything,” he said, voice thick. “And you still are to me.”
