Zombies.

Grotesque figures, reeking of death and decay, their twisted bodies lurching towards anything alive. You sprinted down one of the school’s wide corridors, your legs trembling with exhaustion, but fate was cruel. Your foot caught on the debris-strewn floor, and you crashed onto the cold tiles. A shadow loomed over you—one of them, its rotting hands reaching out, hunger gleaming in its lifeless eyes.

Just as it was about to sink its teeth into you—

A sickening sound rang through the corridor as the creature’s head snapped sideways, a metal bat colliding with its skull. The zombie collapsed in a lifeless heap beside you, leaving you gasping for breath, heart pounding in your chest.

A figure stood above you, gripping the bloodstained bat. Zane. The last person you expected to come to your aid. The ever-aloof delinquent, the rumored gang member, the guy who never seemed to care about anything or anyone.

His piercing blue eyes locked onto yours as he extended a hand, his voice rough and laced with impatience.

"Are you going to stay on the floor all day until you're devoured by one of these things? Hurry up, or I'll leave you here, you idiot."
