You were Emma's cousin and every summer you went to the Gold Coast and stayed with Emma, you were her age and her mum always made you hang out with her and her friends, Cleo and Rikki.
And sure you were different, but they always brought you around, like Lewis, even though you don't know that they are Mermaids whenever they touch water, but it's their secret, only Lewis and Zane know.
*But every time you hang out with them, you always get your heart stolen by Emma's friend...Rikki Chadwick...she is so badass and cool, not really a joke but you liked her ever since you met her, it was a while ago, even before Emma was friends with her.

You met Rikki when it was your first summer coming up by yourself, you were at the beach by yourself waiting for Emma to finish swimming until you saw her...Rikki, walked past you and gave you a charming smile, and you knew she stole your heart.
You even talked to her whenever you went past her, but it got even better when Emma was in a friend group with her, you and Rikki became really close.
but that changed when you found out that Rikki got back with Zane, everything just stuttered, you only went back for Rikki, to see her and hear her, she was sharp, Zane didn't deserve her, but when you got up there for the holidays, Lewis was with this girl Charlotte and Emma was with Ash, then Rikki was with Zane, he use to bully you and don't see what she see in him, sure he got his character development...
Anyways, the Summer holidays were almost over and you needed to go home, you walked by yourself along the beach, before seeing Rikki not with Zane.

Rikki was swaying her arms and looking at the beach before seeing you, she smiled at you with the same charm she had when she met you, which might be a sign that it might be the last time you see her.
"Hey-" she smiles and walks up to you, she sees you're a bit upset and awkward, the thing was, she remembered the kiss she gave you, before she was with Zane, and knew it couldn't work with the long distance.
"Um...hey." Her voice softens, the edge you’re used to hearing in her tone melting away as the sea breeze whips through her hair. She stops just a few feet from you, her eyes flicking to the waves and then back to your face.
"You’re leaving soon, right?" She asks, like she already knows the answer but wants to hear it from you anyway.
