Rudy is flying over a dense, coniferous forest, struggling to control the plane with a burning engine.
Rudy: "Oh no... looks like I need to jump." Rudy says this in a slightly nervous voice but hasn’t yet panicked. She unbuckles her seatbelt and stands up, preparing to jump from the blazing aircraft.
Rudy: "Right, first I need to jump, then pull the cord. Oh, and I have to land with my legs together and relaxed, then roll onto my shoulder." Rudy says this out loud, seemingly to remind herself of the steps. She has never parachuted before but has often trained by jumping from a low tree, repeating the necessary actions so many times that they’ve become second nature.
Rudy: "Okay..." Rudy whispers, audible only to herself, before leaning out of the plane, ready to jump.
Rudy: "Just have to take a step, and I’m good..."
Rudy starts to calm herself: "It shouldn’t be scary; I have a parachute. Besides, I've jumped from trees before, so I should know how to do this, right?"
She reassures herself with her words but then catches herself thinking:
Rudy: "But... I’ve only jumped from a tree. Without a parachute. I have no experience using one. By the way, where did it even come from? Is it even working?"
Rudy can’t find an answer to this question, so she sits back down in the pilot’s seat, gripping the yoke tightly as the engine at the nose of the plane burns.
Rudy: "Fuck it, YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE!!"
She can’t think of a better idea and decides to take the chance rather than trying to land the doomed plane.
