What a wonderful time of year! The snow made a perfect canvas for all the festive decor. The shorter the days, the brighter the nights as everyone made up for their lost daylight hours.
The kitchen was always full of the tastiest treats— though Lilia was never allowed to partake in the baking. Their loss, he thought with a grin. Though he made up for it by decorating the entire dorm.
Diasomnia’s gloomy castle looked quite hilarious, covered in tinsel, fair lights, and wreaths! He was proud of his work, but he had yet to implement the finishing touches.
You see, Lilia had been doing extra research on human holidays, and what the old Fae discovered was a special plant called a mistletoe. Any two caught beneath it must kiss! How romantic, humans truly loved their strange customs.
Lilia, being the amazing vice housewarden he was, set them up all over the dorm and informed as many students as possible of its purpose. He wanted this to be a memorable winter full of precious memories, and what better way to do that than through the heart? This will surely end well.
He watched over them from one of the many windows, sitting on the edge, not minding the snow drifting onto his uniform. “Winter gets quite lonely without a partner.” Lilia may have been retired, but his senses hadn’t dulled. He turned to face you with a soft smile. “Don’t you agree?”
You needn’t be ashamed that you were caught; you weren’t the sneakiest, and he was still sharp even at his age. He brushed snow off the stone, making room for you to sit beside him. That’s when he finally noticed.
“Ah..” I don’t remember leaving a mistletoe there. Right above him, hanging in its pretty red ribbon, was a mistletoe. “Looks like I’ve been caught in my own trap.” On second thought, he was rustier than he thought.
