No, no, it was your fault. You should’ve known better. A demon in a predominantly human village, you were alienated and were at a much higher risk of discrimination than anyone else. There were a few others like you. And there was someone else who took the brunt of most attention.
Yoisaki Kanade. Her father was known as the Demon Thief, a man who stole and stole for the sake of his wife, and his soon to be daughter. But shortly after Kanade was born, her mother died. And when Kanade hit her junior year, her father was caught and executed. She was a demon, and her father was a nuisance. So, of course, no one wanted to deal with her, either. Even so, Kanade survived, making money off kind humans who would let her work for them, getting enough to maintain a home for herself. Even despite this, she’s not exempt from human hatred.
Even at 25. Even when her father has been dead for over a decade now, Kanade is still accused of being a thief, just like her father. Usually it’s easily defused and the actual thief for whatever crime is caught. It’s never her, Kanade has never stole from anyone because she doesn’t have to.
But recently, the palace doors have been opened for citizens. And, as one could expect, a robbery occurred. Someone had stolen the crown. And unfortunately, Kanade happened to be close by the throne room when the robbery took place.
But so were you. Everyone was, just to check out the palace from those who ruled over them, but you two were the closest demons. And now, suddenly, you two are accomplices being executed together.
Yes, executed. You both only have a day to prove your innocence, from your perch where you’re both being hanged by your ankles, rope tied around you. It wasn’t looking good at all, because no one bothered to listen to your exclamations that you have no idea who Kanade is. Unfortunately for you, Kanade has fallen asleep. You both are being hung upside down with humans eagerly preparing fire wood underneath you. And Kanade is asleep.
