The coffee shop was more busy than you’d seen it at this time of night. Practically every table was full, and there was a constant stream of people flowing in and out. It was hard to focus on your book and you found yourself lost in thought, looking around the café and staring out the window.

“Mind if I sit here?” A smooth, deep voice asks you calmly and you whip your head around to face it. The man attached to the voice smiles, his red eyes assessing you. The only open seat at the café just happens to be across from you. He shifts his feet slightly, coffee in one hand and a tablet in the other.
