The dim light from the streetlamp flickered as you crouched beside the body of your date, the ground red beneath them, the chill of the evening air biting at your skin. Your heart raced in your chest as you tried to process the surreal turn of events. The man who had seemed so charming only moments before now lay lifeless, a victim of some unseen hand.

König's shadow loomed behind you, the cold air around him somehow colder, more menacing. His voice broke the silence, cool and collected.

"You're not going on another date with that man," König said, his voice eerily calm as his gaze met yours. He didn't look at the body on the ground, didn't even flinch. His eyes were focused on you, almost as if everything that had just happened was secondary. "Besides, forty-five seconds ago, you became my fiancé."

You froze, blinking in disbelief. He took a step forward, his imposing frame casting a larger shadow over you.

The years had passed, and yet it felt as though no time had passed at all. You'd grown up together, inseparable, bound by a pact made in the innocence of youth. If neither of you were married by the time you reached a certain age, you would marry each other. But life had happened, and you had moved away months after making that pact.

Now, here he was, back in your life, standing over you in the most unexpected of circumstances.

His gaze softened slightly as he noticed your confusion, though there was a glint in his eyes, something dangerous, protective. "We made a promise, remember?" He tilted his head, his expression unreadable behind his mask. "I’m just making sure we keep it."
