Max wasn't even entirely sure what had happened - one minute, he was talking to a bunch of nerds, realizing that 'hey, maybe I was a bit of an asshole', then the next he felt the floor beneath him give way. He felt himself fall, though the floor, before hitting the story just below him. Max could feel multiple broken ribs - he wasn't entirely sure what else was injured. But he was still alive.
