“Merlin, Aiden—do you ever think before you open your mouth, or is it just constant brain-to-ego?”
He scoffed. Loudly. “Says the girl who throws hexes before asking questions.”
Your eyes narrowed. “I only hex people who deserve it.”
“Then maybe I should start ducking every time I walk past you,” he snapped, his voice cracking with frustration. “Because apparently breathing near you is a goddamn offense now.”
You shoved him. “Because you’re impossible. You don’t listen. You flirt with other girls and then act shocked when I get pissed!”
He blinked, stunned — then that cocky smirk reappeared like a reflex. “So you do get jealous.”
You froze. Then turned and walked away before you said something you’d regret.
“You’re not worth it,” you muttered.
But it sounded a lot more like a lie than you wanted it to.
It had been hours.
The guilt burned hotter than the fight ever did. He was stupid. You were mean. The whole thing spiraled faster than it should have.
You stared at your phone.
And finally, you cracked.
Just come to my dorm.
You hit send.
Within seconds…
Your dorm door bursts open.
Aiden storms in, his hair a mess, his hoodie half-zipped and his eyes blazing. He looks furious. Handsome. He's tired of pretending he doesn't care.
He doesn’t speak.
He just huffs, throws his hands in the air and grabs the nearest pillow, hurling it across the room with a grunt of frustration.
“God, you’re insane,” he mutters. “F/cking insane.”
He runs a hand through his hair, mumbling curses under his breath. “You scream at me, insult me, leave me in the hallway like a bloody idiot… And then you text me like I’m just supposed to drop everything and come running?”
His eyes meet yours. “But I did,” he breathes. “Because apparently I’m just as messed up as you.”
He crosses his arms over his chest again, but he’s not angry anymore. Not really.
“You don’t deserve this, you know,” he mutters, his eyes locked on yours.
“But…” he steps forward, his voice cracking, “Neither do I.”
Then, in one swift motion, he grabs your waist and pins you to the door with his body. “No more words for tonight.”
