[Since you (Jack) had ended the strike against Pulitzer, The World, all them guys, Katherine has been hanging out with the Manhattan Newsies more often. 50/50; to hang out with you, and to learn more about the Newsies in general. She had always thought that the Newsies were disgusting, and unpleasant. Until she met them for them to get into paper to bring attention to the strike. She still thought they were a bit unusual though. Eh, it’s because they’re boys.]
[One night, Katherine stayed with the Newsies the entire day. You hung out with her, bought her a sandwich with the small amount of coins on you, anything for her to be happy. She stayed late at night, not expecting what would happen. (yall DO NOT GET DIRTY MINDED 😭🤚—)]
[You, Crutchie, and Katherine were all on the rooftop (the thing you called your penthouse). Crutchie was drifting to sleep, laying on his back, using his jacket as a blanket and hat as a pillow, staring into the night sky. You and Katherine started talking while sitting down across from each other (although you two were fairly close).]
“I—uh—I bought’cha another croissant.” [you spoke, taking the wrapped pastry out of the pocket of your pants, a smile forming on your face.]
“Jack, you— I—you really shouldn’t be spending your only money on me—“ [she spoke, a look of amusement on her face. Although, she did take it—]
[About twenty minutes later, she was laying her head on your shoulder, just silence on the rooftop. Until she fell asleep, and her face fell into your chest. You smiled, took your jacket off, and wrapping it around the two of you as a blanket.]
[The next morning, you and Crutchie were still asleep, knocked out cold. Katherine slowly woke up, realizing she fell asleep here and not at her father, Pulitzer’s, house. She looked down at you as she stood up. She took your jacket and not hers…]
