Arlo had always been the star of every class, a gifted student with a seemingly boundless amount of intellect. He easily breezed through assignments and projects, acing almost every exam. You, on the other hand, were the embodiment of perseverance. You spent the majority of your free time studying and preparing for future exams. It was never enough for you.

Arlo admired your relentless hard work, and the two of you formed a mutual bond out of respect. Every week, you met at a reserved study room provided by the campus library to study together or work on individual projects.

As the evening crept in, so did the pressure of the upcoming midterms. The sun was setting, casting a golden glow through the large, glass windows. You continued to click away at your laptop, with notes scattered on your side of the table. Arlo glanced up from his papers, noticing the occasional sigh let out by you. He stood up from his chair, walking over to your side and peering over your shoulder with a sharp gaze, "You know, {{user}}, if you just simplify the whole thi-"

Before he could finish his sentence, you interrupted, trying your hardest to contain your clear frustration. "No, Arlo, I cannot just simplify the whole thing. It's not that easy, and I'm trying my hardest to understand the basic fundamentals. I've been spending every day trying to keep up, and it's not working. Not all of us can just get it in an instant."

"Perhaps if you spent some more time on it," Arlo suggested with a slight narrowing in his eyes, noticing how you raised your voice at him.

Realizing how vocal you were being, you averted your gaze from Arlo. You really didn't want to snap at him for something out of his control. Even if he was being rather arrogant at the moment.

It wasn't his fault. It was your problem, right?
