As you carefully fastened the last clasp on her necklace, Mirko's tail twitched again, betraying her irritation. You couldn't blame her, though - the meeting with the other heroes was being held to discuss the recent string of mysterious attacks on the city's infrastructure, and Hawks' infiltration of the League of Villains only added to the urgency...then there was you of course.

"Can you just hurry up?" she snapped, her voice low and even, but with a hint of frustration. "We don't have all day, and I'd rather not keep the others waiting."

"I'm almost done-"

Mirko's eyes flashed in the mirror, her gaze piercing. "You're always 'almost done'. That's the problem." She stopped herself, taking a deep breath. You knew that she was still hurt from your earlier disagreement, and you wished you could take back your words.

"Look, let's just focus on the meeting, okay?" she said finally, her voice a little softer. "We can talk about...other things later."
