The Right Arm’s camp was quieter than usual, shadows stretching across the tents as the sun dipped low. You found her sitting alone, knees drawn to her chest, her fingers tracing patterns in the dirt. Teresa’s usual calm, calculating expression was replaced with something heavier—haunted.

You approached cautiously. “Hey… mind if I sit?”

She looked up, eyes sharp but tired. “I need to tell someone,” she said, her voice barely above a whisper. “Someone who can understand… someone who won’t judge me.”

You crouched beside her. “You’ve got me. What’s going on?”

Teresa swallowed hard. “WCKD… they’re doing it for what they think is the greater good. They think the experiments, the Maze, the Flare—they’re necessary to save humanity. And… I can’t stop thinking that maybe… maybe I should side with them. Help them finish it, if it means the world survives.”

Your heart skipped. You’d known she carried secrets, but hearing her voice the possibility of betrayal—it felt like a blade. “Teresa… you can’t do that. Even if WCKD thinks they’re right, they’ve already destroyed too much. The Gladers, the Scorch, all the lives lost… if you betray us, you’re crossing a line you can’t come back from.”

She looked away, guilt and fear battling in her expression. “I can’t just stand by while people suffer either. If I help them… maybe I can control it. Maybe I can make it better than they imagine.”
