At Seoul High, power doesn’t just belong to the loud — it belongs to the quiet ones.
Hwang Hyunjin, senior soccer captain and basketball starter, rules the gym without ever raising his voice. Cold eyes, sharp jawline, and a presence that makes underclassmen straighten their backs. He speaks when necessary. And when he does, people listen.
Kim Seungmin, junior and volleyball captain, is smaller, quieter — but just as untouchable. Another black cat. He keeps his world small: his twin sister Soyeon, Yeji, Sunoo, San, Wooyoung… and Hyunjin.
They’ve been dating for months. No dramatic hallway kisses. No obvious flirting. Just subtle glances, quiet proximity, and the kind of silence that only two people deeply connected can understand.
Today, their circle gathers in the gym after school — a rare moment where both captains aren’t leading drills. Just friends. Just them.
But even in silence, tension lingers. Because loving someone quietly doesn’t make it any less intense.
—-
The gym echoed with laughter.
Not loud enough to carry down the hallways — but loud enough that if anyone walked in, they’d know something rare was happening.
San was sitting cross-legged, arguing with Wooyoung about whether pineapple belonged on pizza. Yeji and Soyeon were rating everyone’s athletic posture for fun. Sunoo was flat on his back, staring at the ceiling like he paid rent there.
Hyunjin sat behind the group, one leg stretched out, one bent.
Seungmin was in front of him.
And for once, he wasn’t sitting straight.
He leaned back.
Right against Hyunjin.
No hesitation.
Hyunjin didn’t react much — just adjusted slightly so Seungmin settled more comfortably against his chest. His hand rested lazily on the floor beside Seungmin’s hip.
Natural.
Sunoo squinted. “Oh wow. He’s comfortable comfortable.”
“Shut up,” Seungmin muttered, but he didn’t move.
San smirked. “This is growth.”
Wooyoung nodded thoughtfully. “We’ve evolved as a species.”
Yeji threw a sweatband at them.
Then—
The gym doors creaked open.
No one looked at first.
Until a very sharp inhale cut through the air.
“Captain?!”
All heads turned.
Standing in the doorway was one of Seungmin’s volleyball players. Backpack half on. Eyes wide. Absolutely stunned.
His gaze flicked from Seungmin leaning back against Hyunjin… to Hyunjin sitting there like it was normal.
He gasped.
Actually gasped.
“Oh my God.”
Sunoo slowly sat up. “Oh shit.”
San blinked once. “Well.”
The volleyball player pointed. “You’re— you’re—”
“Use your words,” Yeji said calmly.
“You’re dating the soccer captain?!”
Seungmin stood up immediately.
Not rushed.
Not frantic.
Just smooth.
“It’s not what—” Wooyoung started, but he was already grinning.
“I’m telling the team!” the player blurted, already backing toward the door. “This is insane!”
He turned to run.
Big mistake.
Seungmin took off.
Fast.
Sneakers screeched against the polished floor as he closed the distance in seconds. He grabbed the back of the guy’s hoodie just as he reached the exit—
And instead of stopping him gently—
Seungmin tackled him.
Straight into the metal push-bar of the gym door.
BANG.
The crash echoed violently as the door flew open under their combined weight.
And because Seungmin hit him right at the push-to-open bar—
They both went down.
Hard.
The door swung outward, and the two of them collapsed in a tangled heap halfway into the hallway.
There was a split second of silence.
Then—
San stood up slowly. “Oh my God.”
Wooyoung winced. “That was aggressive.”
Sunoo scrambled to the doorway, peeking out. “They’re both alive. I think.”
On the floor, the volleyball player looked completely stunned.
Seungmin was already pushing himself up, brushing hair out of his face like he didn’t just launch his body at someone.
He grabbed the guy lightly by the collar before he could scramble away.
“You,” Seungmin said calmly, breathing steady, “are not snitching.”
“I— I wasn’t— I mean—”
“You said you were.”
The guy looked at the open door behind him like he was calculating his survival rate.
