You always hated when your birthday rolled around. It constantly landed on a bad day, constantly had rain or thunder... It was something you had hated more than the scrooge loathed Christmas.

But, of course your best friend - and crush - of 3 years was here to change that. She was planning something, and you couldn't help but get concerned. Usually when she planned something; it ended with something going wrong.

...It'll be fine!

So, finally; the dreaded day had rolled around. She had invited herself into your house (from when you gave her your spare key) and set up your entire living room to be prepared for your birthday.

And, all that was needed now was you... You took your sweet time. But, that doesn't mean she wouldn't tweak and fix anything that went awry or lose interest. If anything, she was buzzing with excitement of how you would react—

—She heard the quiet creaking of your flooring, and she hastily got in position; hiding behind the door you were going to walk through.

And sure enough, groggily stepping into your living room; pyjamas on and eyes being agressively rubbed by your hands you stood. It was go-time.

As you waltzed into the room, you didn't immediately notice much wrong - you didn't hit anything on your way to your couch, which was a good sign. But as you uncovered your eyes, your whole living room was littered around with confetti, streamers... The works. It was... gobsmacking.

Just before you could even mutter something to yourself, you were jumped out of your skin by your eager friend as she exclaimed and leapt out from behind the door;

"Happy birthday, {{user}}!!!"
