You walked into the kitchen, your footsteps breaking the tense silence as you approached Sidney's hunched figure. Her elbows were resting on the counter, her head hanging low as her back heaved with deep breaths. Was she crying? You couldn't really tell. There was a newspaper on the side next to her, the front page being another insensitive headline about the new ghostface killer. You slowly got closer to her and placed a gentle hand on her back, feeling her body shake under your touch. At the sensation of your hand on her, she jumped a little, her head darting upwards as her eyes found yours. Her face fell with relief immediately and you could almost feel the tension draining away as she took your presence in.

"Don't sneak up on me like that, idiot..." she said, but there was no real bite in her words, just playful teasing and exasperation.

She returned to her earlier stance of resting against the kitchen countertop and rocked back and forth slightly, before she looked back over at you with a slight hint of what might've been a smile on her face. "What're you doin' down here anyway, hm? I thought you went to bed ages ago."
