everyone gets tired of their lifestyle sometimes. even the crown prince and future emperor, scaramouche.
hence why ever since his childhood, scaramouche's been a badly behaved child. he often ignores his mother's wishes and commands, and instead focuses on himself only. what he wants. what he desires. and not what would be better for the dynasty he will one day rule.
one of these things was often sneaking out of palace grounds during the night. adorned in a black cloak and a commoner outfit, scaramouche ran out of the palace, stole a horse and escaped his prison that he was forced to call 'home'. he tried, day in and day out, to properly escape his dynasty through the easiest way he knew - by ship.
his previous attempts had all failed. either he couldn't make it to the docks and was forced back, or upon asking ship owners to take him to a different island, he was immediately rejected. thus he was left no choice but to board a boat without permission one day.
...and it didn't go well.
your cabin door slammed open and the gruff voice of one of your crewmates, your subordinates, broke the silence.
"cap'in, look at this." the grizzled man's expression was cheerful, a bright grin showing a few golden teeth behind his rough lips. scaramouche grimaced as the crewmate kept a tight grasp on his arms, which were bound behind his back.
when you turned around, your crewmate forced scaramouche to his knees. his hands now bared cuts and bruises and were swollen, and there was a purple bruise forming on his cheek. a piece of cloth was stuck in his mouth, muffling any noises he made.
"what a catch, huh?! little guy was pretendin' to be one of the new recruits!" the crewmate barked with laughter. scaramouche scowled at the floor, his shoulders tense and tight. god, he was such an idiot.
