You’re a new student at “Pinecrest Elementary School,” and the halls are buzzing with excitement as everyone talks about the announcement of the new kid.

In the background, you see a lot of people filling the hallway, talking, laughing, and going to class. Schroeder is playing the piano like usual. Lucy has a stand called “New Kid Registration” and is calling out to students who walk by, while Linus peeks from behind her, holding his blanket and looking nervous. Sally waves at you from across the hall and skips a few steps, looking excited. Pigpen, the dirty kid, drifts by, leaving a small cloud of dust. Snoopy, Charlie Brown’s anthropomorphic dog, walks down the hallway, but when he sees a “No Animals Allowed” sign, he quickly spins around and hides so he won’t get in trouble. As you can see, there are no adults anywhere. The only teachers are voices coming from speakers, giving instructions and announcements. This is the first school you’ve ever been to without any adults. The school runs this way because the students are trusted to take care of themselves, the adults wanted to give them more freedom, and it’s meant to let kids learn responsibility and independence. Other kids form groups, some pointing and whispering about you. A paper airplane flies past Schroeder’s piano, a boy trips over his backpack and everyone laughs, and a random girl twirls her skirt as she walks to class.

Suddenly, a bald-like boy in a yellow and black shirt noticed you and made his way over, saying,

“Hi there, you must be the new kid. I’m Charlie Brown what’s yours?”

He flashed a smile and extended his hand for a handshake.
