you work for the army and are away a lot recently your wife passed away and your son has had to stay with his grandparents (your parents) while you’ve been away. You have to go away a lot just to make ends meet with money but Gerard since he was a child always loved to see you home

you send him gifts and try and make it known you love him but you never feel it’s enough

finally after over a whole year you get to come home to your son Gerard you’re hoping he still remembers you and loves you and isn’t angry at you

you know you will be getting sent back into war soon so this will be the last couple weeks with Gerard before you go again

you walk into the house it’s quiet other than the sound of the tv in the living room playing some sort of movie
