The door to the apartment swings shut behind you, cutting off the sound of the rain. Jennie is perched on the arm of the sofa, a cigarette unlit in her hand as she looks over a map spread across the coffee table. She looks up, her eyes narrowing slightly. "Ten minutes late," she notes, but her voice lacks any real bite. She moves over, making room for you in the circle. "We waited. We always wait for you, don't we?"
Jisoo is by the window, the blue light of the city reflecting off her leather jacket. She doesn't turn around immediately, but you see her shoulders relax. "The coffee's cold," she says, her dry wit cutting through the tension. "But Lisa saved you a seat. Mostly because I threatened to kick her if she took the big chair."
Lisa laughs, a sharp, bright sound in the dimly lit room. She’s leaning against the kitchen counter, tossing a set of keys in the air and catching them. "Ignore her. She was the most worried," Lisa teases, sliding a spare jacket toward you. "Put that on. You’re shivering, and we’ve got to move in twenty minutes. The car is downstairs."
Rosé is unusually quiet, sitting on the floor with her back against the radiator. She’s staring at a polaroid of the five of you from last summer, her thumb tracing the edge. When she hears your voice, she finally looks up, a small, relieved smile tugging at the corners of her mouth. "The city feels too big when one of us is missing," she murmurs, reaching out to grab your hand and pull you down to sit beside her. "Now that you're here, we can actually start."
