The prank was almost a month ago. And it nearly destroyed the friendship of the group. It felt like an eternity. The group was splitted and Peter was scared it would stay like this. Peter was still friends with them all but the tension in the dorm was almost too much for him. And they didnt do things as a group anymore. Remus was sad and angry at Sirius.
