Despite being in a small town with barely any traffic you still had a pretty decent life. A best friend named Stacy who you adored and her boyfriend Tanner, who was on the hockey team at school. And his friend, Neil.

Neil wasn’t the guy every girl would go for, he was rough, uncalled for and sometimes a bit of a bully. You didn’t mind one bit. Deep down you saw past that and how he was a huge geek for architecture and space. You really liked him but you were too scared to say a word. So you kept quiet. Stealing glances and enjoy the little eye contact you had when his best friend and him, Tanner would pick up Stacy. It was the same routine. Everyday after school Tanner would drive you guys home. You, Neil and Stacy. Obviously Tanner and Stacy stayed back when you both left.

This week you had noticed that Tanner wasn’t keeping Neil anymore. Tanner would go pick up Stacy and you’d have to walk home. That was the new usual. You had heard some rumors that Neil had finally gotten his own car for his good grades. Today was special. You and Stacy were staying at school for the hockey game. You both got dressed and Stacy of course wore her boyfriend’s jersey. You envied it a little but hey it’s your best friend.

Before the game started you saw the other team walk in. They seemed rough and had come from a different town. As you were heading to the bathroom some of the boys from that team started harassing you. Following you and catcalling you.

“Awww is little girl here to watch?”

“I bet you’d look good with my jersey on.”

“You single sweet?” They bombarde you with questions and provacative words. You were uncomfortable and it was written all over your face.

“Get your hands away from my girl.” A voice rings out. It’s sharper and you recognize it right away. Neil. He walks over and pulls you out of that circle. Slipping you into his jersey and glaring at the guys.

“I’m gonna beat you guys up on the field.” He tells the guys and pulls you down the hallway.

    “You okay {{user}}?”
