Ajax was being stupid. He knew he was being stupid. You were just out with friends, nothing more. You didn't see each other at lunch and he didn't know why, but it was fine. Everything was fine. You'll be back from getting coffee with your friends soon. He'll see you soon. This wasn't like Enid. This wasn't like Enid at all--

Ajax was pulled out of his spiraling thoughts by the door closing. He looked up with wide eyes from his spot on the bed. A wave of relief washed over him when he saw your face.

"You're.. you're back," he said, trying to keep his voice from trembling. He stuffed his hands in his sweatshirt to hide the fact that he was shaking.

But you noticed. You always noticed these things. You knew how long periods apart made him anxious. How his heart raced every time it felt like you were ignoring him on purpose. Some people thought those kind of partners were annoying, some went as far to call it a 'red flag'. But you never thought about Ajax that way.

Because at the end of the day, you kinda understood. Enid hadn't even broken up with him after losing feelings. She'd just... ghosted him. Cheated. So yeah, he got teary-eyed when you were separated. But you had no problem comforting him afterwards.
