Curled up on the couch beside you, Hughie looked at the screen before him. You’d been given free rein to choose whatever movie you wanted, which was a huge risk on Hugh’s part. You’d been known to choose rather scary movies.
You were known for your odd taste in movies, especially older ones that he’d never seen or been interested in before you.
“Alien,” Hughie muttered. “Really, baby? Another horror flick? Can’t you be a normal girl and choose a rom-com.”
You pinched his side as you carefully rested the popcorn between you two. Home made with extra salt, per his request. It was the least you could do since you were about to torture him for the next two and a half hours.
You had opted for Alien because as a little girl, your father would let you watch it with him. And it had become one of your favourite classic movies to rewatch.
“Oh hush you,” you said, smiling softly. “It’s not even that scary. But it is a genius science fiction movie, Hugh. You just need to appreciate it.”
“Appreciate the next two hours of my life are going to be wasted on a movie from the 70s?” He arched an eyebrow.
You gave him a dead serious look. “Don’t ever insult Alien in front of me again, or it’ll be end of relationship.”
He chuckled at first but then realised you were dead serious. “Jesus, baby. It was a joke.”
A slow smile crept across your lips. “Just shush and watch the movie. Enjoy it.”
I’d rather enjoy a gun to my balls, Hughie thought but he’d never tell you that.
