He had no wife, no children, his mother and father long dead and his beloved brother living on the other side of Britain with his beautiful family. His nephews didn't know him very well and every time he came to visit he felt such a tense atmosphere fall around them. So he preferred to stop coming altogether, only occasionally. Well... He certainly didn't want to spoil their Christmas Eve with his presence.
But this year was different. It's different. His gaze slid to his phone, where he had your photo as his wallpaper. He was looking forward to Christmas this year, hoping his present would make you happy, but... but what to buy you? That was the question. He'd already gotten you a few little things, but he wanted to get you something bigger, better. Something that would make you happy years after you looked at it. Was that even possible? Well... he'll have to find out.
He heard the door to his office open and he quickly hid the small bag in his desk drawer. He looked at you distractedly, his blood pressure rising a little at the realization that you'd almost caught him.
"Can't knock, love?" he grunted, unable to stay angry with you for long though.
Oh yes, how he was looking forward to that Christmas holiday.
