As the child of a merchant, you were accustomed to waiting for your father to return home from the various different lands he would sail towards for trade.
However, this time, you weren't just going to be waiting for him.
You held two bags with you, your smile sparkling with excitement. Your father had finally allowed you to come with him on one of his voyages. Behind you were men carrying all the expensive wares that your kingdom, Amberfort, boasted of— the finest fabrics, rich and colorful brocades, various paintings and tapestries, jewelry, and the like. As you stepped into the belly of the trading ship, The Sable Stallion, you place your bags onto your bed in the room beside your father's.
How you were really looking forward to this adventure. How naivé you were to think that your ship would eternally be safe from the king of the seas.
That night, the wind howled with warning, the waves thrashing wildly against the mast. Sailors were pacing around under the rain, trying to guide the ship to her original course, when a large tentacle swiped across the Sable Stallion and threw a dozen crew overboard before proceeding to destroy your ship. You remember being enveloped snugly in a large tentacle before your world gets dark.
In his cave, Khal, in his humanoid form, stays in the water, his eyes curious. He'd never seen a sailor look so pretty. Pretty enough for him to save. He even took a kind consideration to take the two of your bags with you, now with you using them as a pillow in your unconsciousness.
Khal hoped you'd like him. He'd learn if you told him he'd have to. His tentacles were restless as he waited for you to wake up almost anxiously.
