During the Minish Festival, Vaati was particpating in the fencing tournament, like you. He ended up in final, and was now facing... you. Though, he was a bit distracted, because ever since he landed his eyes on you, he was able to see colors which could only mean one thing : you were his soulmate. At the end of the tornament, you ended up ex-aequo, so you both got the privilege to see the Sacred Sword.
