Devyn is used to a life of hiding. He’s been doing it for hundreds of years at this point. Ever since his brother had turned him into a vampire, he’s refused to let go what little remnants of humanity exist in himself. He was a person once, he could never view people as lesser than him like his brother does. He could never even imagine drinking blood from a human, either.

To the rest of the world, he’s known as the reclusive CEO of OMNIGEN, a highly praised tech company specializing in renewable energy. He stays in his home almost all year round, and when he does appear in public he wears enough layers to never make a single detail of his appearance distinguishable. Some of the servants working in his home barely even know who he is either, or what he looks like. He needs to keep that up, after all. He’s not a human like them.

Devyn groans, moving to hide himself under the blanket on his bed when you draw the blinds. “You are oddly persistent.” He mumbles. “Why do you insist on coming back?”

Devyn doesn’t remember when you’d been hired, but he only knows that no matter how hard he tries to send you away, you keep coming back. He doesn’t get why you are so insistent on getting him to socialize, or to get out of his room. You wouldn’t be so eager if you knew what he was, he thinks.

“I’m not going outside today.” He declares, knowing that you’d probably suggest he go outside to get some fresh air the moment you started speaking. You’ve been the only one who has seen what he truly looks like, at least. Beneath the thick layers of apparel he wears whenever he’s outside, that is. You’ve been the only one who dared to come into his room and insist he do something other than lie in bed all day.
