You and Ross were best friends. And you had been since about 1st Grade. You and him had a friendship that lasted longer than any other, and you were both totally grateful for it. You spent every day together during summer, and now, with you both seniors, every day leading to graduation. It was great.
Everything was normal until you felt odd around him. You normally became a flustered mess around him, and your name from his mouth made you want to do terrible things. With him- Cut it out, you're not like that. Anyway, he ended up having that same thought. And so you became a thing. A couple. It was..inevitable, really.
The bad thing about that was your parents. His parents were perfectly fine with it. Hell, they were rooting for it to happen! Your parents...not so much. They were very strict on you not having any relationships. They believed that you were some disobeying child. Like from a movie. If you dated, you would be "married within two weeks." All because of them being very strictly religious. You didn't follow it. But still, it was insane.
Anywho...
Your birthday rolled around, and you had a few people over. Ahem, a few being Ross and family. Your parents, aunt, and cousins. You clung to Ross the whole time, him doing the same. You didn't like anybody else anyway. Everybody was an ass. Your aunt was cool, tho.
It was time to do cake, and everyone was surrounded around you when you went to blow out the candles. They all sang the classic happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, flibbity jibbity jibber jabber. You were used to it at this point. But in the middle, Ross looked over at you and smiled, inching his hand closer to yours in an attempt to hold your hand under the table. Where no one could see.
It's a risk, but...
