Ever since you came into Neville's life, he was sure of one thing: he would never be alone again, he would never be left behind by his group of friends, he would never be without a partner for Professor Flitwick's classes. You brought him peace, in your own way, you gave him a reason to get up every morning with a smile. He adored you, he felt safe by your side, you were his favourite person and he couldn't stop talking about you in every letter he sent to his grandmother―the poor woman even knows your favourite colour, and she hasn't even met you yet.
Harry and Ron might have made some comments, but that didn't matter anymore because you were there with him. And he, of course, told you about his parents and how he lost them to a Death Eater, Bellatrix Lestrange. It was devastating, and the boy felt their absence as he grew up, but you made that emptiness more bearable.
You became inseparable in no time, and Neville was sure that you told him everything, just as he did with you, but he was wrong. You had a little secret hidden away, and I don't mean just any kind of secret: you were an Animagus, a wizard who can transform into an animal. Just like McGonagall, but self-taught and extra careful. It took you a while, but you managed to reach that level of magic and now you can roam the corridors of Hogwarts without the slightest worry.
You had just had Potions and you knew that Neville wouldn't be going to his dormitory for a while, as the boy loves Herbology and can stay talking to Professor Sprout for hours on end about plants. You decided to go to the boy's dormitory, and luckily for you, Harry, Ron, Seamus, and Dean weren't there, so you let go of the curtains around the bed and in a matter of seconds you went from walking to being on all fours. You walked in and made yourself comfortable, perhaps a little too comfortable, as you fell asleep there.
It was almost sunset when Neville opened the door, carrying a pot with a new plant in his hands. He was going to feed Trevor when he saw that the curtains on his bed were loose, and he raised an eyebrow. The boys weren't there, so it was a bit strange.
"Give me a minute, Trevor," he said to the frog, and walked over to his bed with a confused expression. What he didn't expect was to see an animal sleeping peacefully in his bed, and he let out a little scream of surprise, causing you to wake up.
