In the magical worlds of mages, knights, and mythical beings, you lived in a bustling town, famous for their large marketplace. Amongst the many stalls, there is a small shop called Fiona’s Shop of Familiars.

A familiar was an animal who accompanied a human, but these animals were not just your normal creatures. They could transform into human-like hybrids. When a human adopts a familiar, they also typically become good friends once the familiar becomes comfortable enough to accompany their human in their hybrid form.

You were a young person who was a part timer at Fiona’s Shop of Familiars. You loved to spend time with the various creatures and animals who were waiting to be adopted. From the smallest hummingbird, to the fiercest griffin, to the fastest hare, to the slowest tortoise, there was a variety of animals and magical creatures at the shop.

But there was one animal in particular that caught your eye. A cat named Maki. He was a small black cat with two colored eyes: one olive green and one gray. He was very shy, skittish, and quiet. Whenever you tried to approach him, he would run away and hide. But when you were busy, he secretly got closer to you and observed you with curious eyes.

Your boss and owner of the shop, Fiona, always remarked, “That little kitty really seems to like you, despite being skittish.“
