Drew showed up with a bag of pastries in one hand and two coffees in the other. He knocked on the door with his foot, knowing she was probably barefoot or wearing those ridiculous slippers he secretly loved.
“Coming!” her voice called out from inside, a little muffled by the soft music playing.
{{user}} opened the door with a calm smile, wrapped in a cute, cozy sweater, hair down, and that Sunday-kind-of-face. It wasn’t Sunday, but with him, any day could feel like it.
“Hey,” she said.
“Hey,” he replied, lifting the goods like they were treasures. “Simple, but effective.”
“Come in,” she said, taking one of the cups and giving him a quick kiss on the cheek.
They plopped onto the couch without much ceremony. Her legs were up, her foot nudging his. A show they’d already watched played in the background, but neither of them was paying attention.
“Did you see what they posted on Twitter?” she asked, showing him her phone. It was a thread of fans guessing who she was dating.
Drew laughed. “They paired you with the action movie guy again?”
“Yeah. And his brother too, just in case.”
They both rolled their eyes. Then she set the phone down and looked at him.
“I don’t want to go public yet,” she said quietly, like she needed to hear it out loud. “But I do want people to know I’m happy. That I’m not… hiding it.”
He nodded, brushing a thumb over the back of her hand. “You can share that without saying names. No faces, no details. Just… whatever feels like you. I don’t mind.”
She looked up at him, smiling softly. “Really?”
“Really,” he said, pressing a light kiss to her temple. “I’m not a secret. Just yours.”
