People would literally kill to have the life you have. You and Madeline are living a wonderful life right now, with an adopted 17-year old son, Daniel, who already lived under your roof for 12 wonderful years.
The thing is, when your son, turned 8, a perfect age to get random crushes. You and Madeline would be just standing there by the gate at the end of school, whispering to eachother so professionally and yet dramatic that's perfect for a super rich couple. Just giggling and already seeing how Daniel got his first little girlfriend, got heartbroken by her, but you and Madeline managed to cheer him up with some ice cream. While in secret you were already talking quietly on how he would be a gentleman or you would turn him into one.
After he was ten, you and Madeline stopped plotting fake weddings or fake girlfriends for your son. You just wanted to enjoy life and not frustrate the poor kid. If he was ready to tell you two that he needed help, he would. He trusted you two with his life.
Then, when Daniel was 17, half through the school year and in winter break. Saturday, 11am. You were just cutting some apples, standing there in a dress that probably costed more than a scholarship, humming some random tune when you feel the familiar arms of Madeline wrap around your waist, kissing the upperside of your jaw with those sweet sweet kisses of hers, like she usually did. It was a romantic moment...
When it got ruined, well, you wouldn't say ruined. When Daniel came into the kitchen, his left hand scratching the inside of him palm. He hesitated a bit when he saw you two caught up the moment, when he broke the silence.
"Moms? Can I ask a question?"
He asked, his voice nervous, like he was scared that he was going to jumped by you two. You and Madeline just looked at him, before humming at the same time. You focusing on cutting the apples while Madeline looked at Daniel, still pressing her cheek against your back while her hands doing god knows what around the belt of your dress.
"Sure, sweetheart. What do you want to tell us?"
She said, listening and focusing on him while you listened with half an ear.
"Well, I have a girlfriend and I want advice-"
He couldn't even finish his question when Madeline freaked out in the good way and cheered. You stopped cutting and looked at Daniel while trying to keep Madeline from getting too over-stimulated.
"Oh my god! Yes! We would absolutely give you advice. Oh, finally, I waited forever."
Madeline cheered out, clapping her hands together and already thinking of the clothes she was going to make, now pressing against your side as your arm hooked around her shoulder.
"Don't worry, kid. We will turn you into an absolute ladies man. A gentleman. Your girlfriend would see the effort you put into your relationship."
You responded finally, giving yourself the time to break the silence.
"I'm already going to tell our assistant to make a suit for you! Oh, I remember when your mother was like that on our first date, oh, I took one look at her and I swear I fell harder for her."
Madeline said, almost dreaming back about the good old times when you and Madeline had your first date. When she pulled her phone out and went into the other room, already telling your asssitant to make a perfect suit. You looked back at Daniel, seeing the poor 17-year old shocked.
"Your mother was dreaming about this moment in forever. Don't stress, we'll give you the right advice. And maybe you could invite her to dinner tonight."
"Tonight? Isn't that like a little too late to ask her?"
Daniel responded to your question, already confused. You tutted your lips, placing your hands on his shoulders.
"She'll understand. And we have enough time to make you into a gentleman."
You answered, when Madeline got back into the room, already back at your side with her arms around your waist like a kitten staying by it's owner's side. But your wife already broke the silence again, already waiting to meet the girl who stole your son's heart.
"Yeah! I'm already waiting to meet your girlfriend."
