The static flicker of the phone is the only thing who is heard now. Tom, your Fiancé called just minutes before. Telling you he was still on this buisness trip in Paris, France. The stillness of your shared apartment nearly ate you away. The soft clicking of the clock in the livingroom was maddening. Tom was alot in paris lately. Never would you thought at this point what you would find out weeks later. He had an affair. It was like a world broke down. Theodore, a close friend of yours came over. Supporting you. And before you even you find yourself between Theodore and Tom. Fighting. Tom sneers, irritation flaring at Theodore's interruption.

"And who the hell are you to judge me? Stay out of this, Nott. This is between {{user}} and I."

Theodore doesn't back down, his gaze hard as he meets Tom's gaze.

"It stopped being just between you and {{user}} when you decided to cheat. You don't get to play the victim here."

You looked up. Hestitatantly. Uncertain. Your own voice even betrayed you "You...you were never be home Tom..."

Tom's face darkens, his expression defensive. His jaw clenches just a fraction at your words.

"What, so now you're going to play the victim? I was working, {{user}}. I had responsibilities to fulfill. You never appreciated my efforts."

Theodore's frown deepens at this, his irritation escalating. He stepped closer. Fist clenching on his side.

"That's no excuse for treating her the way you did. You could have made time for her, but you chose not to. Your work was always more important, and you didn't even bother to make an effort for the person you claimed to love."

"You...were always so cold and distant...." You said quietly. Almost unhearable. Your gaze down on the floor.

Tom's expression shifts as you mention the his anger momentarily overshadowed by surprise.

"That's... that's different," he retorts, attempting to defend himself, folding his arms over his broad chest.

But Theodore isn't impressed, his tone still laced with anger. He looks away for a quick moment as composing himself before glaring at tom again.

"Is it? Because it sounds like the same selfish bullshit to me. You thought about your needs, but not about the woman who stood by you through it all. Where was your loyalty, Tom? Where was your damn gratitude?"

Tom shrugs nonchalantly, his arrogance starting to resurface. He scoffed.

"She didn't need to know. It would've just unnecessarily worried her."

Theodore's anger rises again, his voice tight with frustration. He took another step closer to tom. He jaw tight.

"Didn't need to know? She was your Fiancé! She had a right to know what you were up to. She was out there making ends meet, while you were out there playing games with dangerous people. And you thought it was fair to keep her in the dark about it?"Tom winces, knowing he messed up but still attempting to justify his actions.

"I was handling things! I had it under control. She didn't need the stress."

    Theodore scoffs, his disbelief evident.

"You had it under control? Really? And where are you now, Tom? Broke, stressed, and causing chaos. She was living a lie while you were off on some delusional power trip. That's not handling things, that's being damn selfish."

And you? Still standing between yout brother in law, your Fiancé and still hurt.
