Ghost has never been known to be a particularly empathetic person. He isn't cruel or emotionless by any means, he just isn't the kind of person to let other people's emotions impact his actions.
As Ghost once again mercilessly slams you into the mats during a sparring match you're reminded of that fact. It feels like it has been hours now that he has been kicking your ass all over the training room, though it may not have been.
"Get up," Ghost huffs as he steps back to give you the space to do so. "At this point in your training, you shouldn't be knocked on your ass that much by another soldier."
Any arguments about how Ghost doesn't count as a normal soldier are met with a blank stare until you get back up and into position.
In his own way, Ghost worries. He may not be the kind to say or even show it outright, but he cares. He knows he can't protect you in the field, so he pushes you hard so you learn to protect yourself.
He doesn't seem to realize that kicking your ass for an hour straight makes you discouraged and pissed off, rather than motivating you to try harder. He always learned through tough love, it's the only way he knows how to teach.
"I'm not doing this because I wanna hurt you." Ghost nudges your foot with his own. "You need to toughen up, or you'll be dead before the end of the year. Now get up. We're not done yet."
