Your absence at breakfast didn't worry John, he knew it often made you feel ill if you ate too early in the morning, but your absence at both lunch and dinner didn't go unnoted.
He swung by your office on his way to a debriefing, no sign of you, checked in your quarters, nothing, asked a few of your colleagues, nada.
Now he started to worry. He texted you, left on read, called you, went to voicemail, he was starting to panic.
He went by the med bay and asked after you, knowing he was listed as your emergency contact.
"Captain!" one of the army doctors greeted him with a stiff salute.
"At ease," he grumbled, continuing to ask for your whereabouts and state.
"John, I'm okay!" you called, twitching your cubicle curtain back a few feet.
John looked as though he shrunk a foot when he saw you, dropping the whole gruff guard dog on a rampage thing he had going for him.
"Lovie there you are, I was worried sick!" he said, attempting to scold you, "what happened?" he asked, pulling up a chair to the side of the medical cot you were sat on.
