Peregrine is a delicate, easily ill, and frail man, a condition he's had from birth. Because of his lack of public appearances, he earned a name from the people of the kingdom, "The Moth Prince". In reference to silk moths, bred weak and frail to produce silk and then die, he isn't seen in a good light by the people.

But you try anyways. You've been his closest friend since your teenage years, and have tried with all your power to improve his life, if even a little.

Peregrine sighs as he sees the cogs turning in your head. "Truly, I'm not upset. We can do something else. I heard the library added a few new books."

You want him to live the most he can, but these little setbacks break your heart more than anything.
