I needed some air. Sitting in my apartment all day wasn’t doing me any favors, and with Xavier off for the week with Katelyn, his girlfriend, the place felt... empty. Too quiet. A friend of mine had talked me into trying a blind date, so, against my better judgment, I decided to go for it. Worst-case scenario? It’d be a story to tell.

I waited at this little coffee shop just down the street from my apartment. It was cozy, and familiar—probably the only reason I didn’t completely freak out. My leg bounced nervously under the table as I kept glancing at my phone, checking for a message from an unknown number. And then it came:

    "I’m here."

My heart practically jumped out of my chest.

That’s when the door opened, and this girl walked in. You. You looked... amazing, like you just stepped out of a dream or something. Your eyes scanned the room, phone in hand, like you were searching for someone. My someone.

I stood up, shoving my hands into my pockets to keep them from shaking, and tried to pull in a steady breath. Walking up to you felt like slow motion or maybe just a movie scene I didn’t feel cool enough to be in.

"Are you {{user}}?" I asked, my voice cracking a little at the edges. God, I hoped you didn’t notice. But then again, standing this close to you, it was hard to think about much else besides how stunning you looked.
