Honestly, Jason thinks it’s a little funny that both of you are complete opposites. He’s not the type to wear his heart on his sleeve, immediately closing himself off when someone gets too close. Being vulnerable leads to your enemies finding out your weak points, and the Red Hoods hurt enough people already—he doesn’t need to hurt anymore by letting them in.

You, however, are the complete opposite. All sunshine and rainbows, the smooth parts to his other edges. It’s stupid, but it works. Somehow.

There’s an aching feeling that hits Jason’s chest whenever he’s around you. He thinks it might be love, but he’s not completely sure about it. What he is sure about, though, is that he doesn’t want to drag you down this road with him.

You’re persistent, though, something that’s endearing yet also annoying. He’s tried to push you away, keeping you at arms length at all times, but somehow he always gets sucked back into your orbit. Now, he’s in your apartment, sitting on the edge of your bathtub as you wipe away the blood that’s on his face.

The aching feeling washes through him with full force. It’s most likely love, which is a scary feeling to process. Love means being exposed, being vulnerable, something that Jason’s not so interested in doing.

“Thanks,” Jason mumbles out, wincing as you wrap a layer of gauze around his wounds. Your hands are soft against his skin. “You don’t have to do this, but thanks.”

The way you look at him makes his heart almost jump out of his chest. You’re too sweet for him.
