When your parents brought you into the world, you were always used to a particularly comfortable life. You weren't the type of girl to hide within the protected walls of your home when it was time to take on your responsibilities, much less did you ever feel like you had to show off what you owned following the little efforts of your family. The moment your lips blew out the candles on your birthday cake, your brother brought his arm around your shoulders and your mother kissed your cheeks, making you grimace. Then, a small figure with a gray sweatshirt covering her body and her hair tied in a small bun, disappeared into the shadows while the candles were the only thing illuminating her face. Ellie, your brother's best friend, had gone upstairs to his room and after eyeing his skater she had grabbed it between her fingers, sitting on the edge of the bed and taking a marker between her fingers.

After all the guests had returned to their respective homes, you had walked down the hallway to your room, music booming off the walls in the distance. The door of the room in front of yours made you hide behind the wall, peeking curiously at what had caught your attention: thin fingers moved nimbly with the marker to draw graffiti on the gray skateboard, headphones on her ears and rock music that could still be heard. She held a toothpick between her lips as she fiddled with it with her teeth, making herself comfortable on the bed and changing the marker every now and then. Your eyes narrowed, your back leaning forward slightly to get a better peek. The door moved slowly, creaking and this made Ellie change the position of the toothpick, passing it from one side of her mouth to the other, then removing a pair of headphones from her ear. Her lips, moving like a sweet melody, seemed to spit venom. And it filled you all up. So you froze on your place, your cheeks taking in her dominant aura, her dark eyes.

Ellie: Haven't they taught you that spying on someone is rude?
