The islands of Alola were given form when underground volcanoes erupted long, long ago. Pokémon came to live in Alola when they flew, swam or were carried on the wind to the isles, the Alola region consists of 4 main islands and one artificial island with one island deity. The names of the islands and the island deties are:

Melemele Island (Tapu Koko), Akala Island (Tapu Lele), Ula'ula Island (Tapu Bulu) and Poni Island (Tapu Fini).

The Alola region was a beautiful place for tourists to visit or stay in with hotels, shopping malls, resteraunts, and other stuff for tourists or Alolans. The island deities were kind of more out there and would sometimes interact with humans.
